Creating Product Packaging That Stands Out

The packaging is one of the critical decisions when it comes to making your products noticeable on shelves. Any product gets three seconds to grab the consumer’s attention. If the product is unable to attract eyeballs in that duration, it might remain unsold for a long time.
That said, we have compiled a few ways to help you make your product packaging stand out.
Know your market
The first thing that you want to determine is your market. You have to know your audience before designing the product package. Is your product targeted at men, women, or both? What is the age range of your audience? What important characteristics do you want your audience to know about your product?
After finding answers to these questions, research similar products in the market. See what those brands are doing to target their audiences. Look at the images and designs they use.
Focus on uniqueness
You will need to use a specific type of box for the packaging of your products if retailers ask you to do so. In most cases, you get more control over the type of boxes and packaging that you can use. In such cases, make sure to use something that brings your product and brand to consumers’ attention.
If the store shelf is full of square boxes, placing a pouch between them can make the customer look at that pouch more than once. The good thing is that a pouch might be less expensive compared to boxes. The purpose of saying this is that you don’t have to spend extra bucks to be unique. You can look at a packaging method that your competitors are not yet utilizing. It will make your product and brand unique.
The packaging design
After deciding about the type of packaging to use, you now need to invest in the packaging design. This packaging design has to include your brand logo, product name, and purpose of the product. And make sure that everything is clear to the customers.
You may want to look into color combinations to find the one that triggers an emotional response in your audience. If you are unable to find the right combination, you may want to use your existing customers and your focus group. They will give their feedback or opinions to help you determine the right packaging design.
Prioritizing information
Make sure to include all the necessary information on the packaging of your product. This is where you have to avoid cluttering the design to make the information easily understandable.
To make things easier, you have to prioritize information by assigning ranks to different parts of it. For example, you will need to add the top 2-3 bits of information on the front of the packaging. You can then add other bits of information to the sides and back of the packaging.
Packaging layers
Each layer of packaging allows you to promote your brand differently. The procedure of designing packaging layers will create the unboxing experience. An interesting unboxing experience tends to instill brand loyalty in the minds of your customers.
